by Jane Austen
I enjoyed this book, but oh my word I can’t believe how long it took for me to read it. I am not sure if it was because I didn’t fully dive into the story, whether I hadn’t seen the movie, orĀ because it was just simply a longer book and I had less time to read.
Fanny was quite a character. Due to her situation life she was regarded as one who was less than, and she did not argue this point. She didn’t feel as if she deserved any special treatment, and forgave people for cross words and attitudes because she couldn’t live with the anger. I enjoyed reading about a character who held to her morals despite what all around her did. I liked the fact that she stayed true to what she knew to be true, even when others said and behaved otherwise.
It was interesting to see how the family behaved without the threat of the father present, and how even Edmund justified his own behavior until faced with his father. It made me think of our own behavior and how easy it is to give a reason or excuses. Once we face the Lord it wont be quite so easy, and I pray only that I know to shut my mouth and say nothing for there is no excuse.
Of course it had a happy ending for Fanny, after all it was written by Jane Austen. I am beginning to see a formula in her books, but since I have only read three at this point I could be very wrong.

I need to read this one!
